On July 6th, the UK government announced sanctions against human rights abusers, including visa bans and assets freezes. It was the first time since leaving the European Union in January that Britain imposed its own sanctions for human-rights violations. On July 6, 2020, the U.K. Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Dominic Raab introduced the long awaited sanctions on human rights violators involved in extra-judicial killings, including political assassinations, torture, degrading treatment, forced labour, and servitude.
