2019-02-07 23:03
This aerial footage shows record flooding near the Flinders River in Richmond, Queensland. Residents were on high alert after a major flood warning was issued by the Bureau of Meteorology on February 7. After receiving 146 mm of rain on Wednesday, the Flinders River at Richmond reached a record water level of 9.17 metres on Thursday morning – the highest water level in the river since 1974. “The river level at Richmond may continue to rise and will remain above the major flood level (8.00 m) over the next few days,” the Bureau said. In this helicopter footage, captured by Ashley Naclerio, parts of the Richmond Shire can be seen completely submerged in floodwater. Richmond was just one of many communities affected by severe floods brought on by monsoon rainfall. Credit: Ashley Naclerio via Storyful
