Zuckerberg, Soros, and Steyer Spend Millions on Out-of-State Ballot Initiatives

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg is among the billionaires financing ballot measures. Many of them are supporting measures in states where they don’t actually reside. Zuckerberg, who lives in California and Hawaii, has invested in a ballot measure in Ohio. The measure would soften penalties for those convicted of drug possession. “It’s not being proposed by Ohioans. It’s being driven by money from out of state,” said Louis Tobin, Ohio Prosecuting Attorneys Association director. The billionaires have invested more than $70 million in out-of-state measures. The analysis of state records was conducted by the Center of Public Integrity.
