Quarantine and Testing From the Second CCP Virus Outbreak Wave Comes at a High Cost

The Epoch Times
The Epoch Times
In Shenyang city, located in China’s northeast, a second wave of the CCP virus outbreak has occurred at the city’s No. 463 Hospital, which resulted in its lockdown. Residents revealed that quite a few people have contracted the virus, but local authorities are not reporting the situation. The authorities have adopted a large-scale quarantine. Some Twitter users disclosed that the cost for the 14-day quarantine in Shenyang is 8,286 yuan ($1,167), which is even more expensive than that in Shanghai. Some residents criticized the authorities of profiteering from the pandemic. State-run media reported on May 15 that the latest outbreak began in Shulan city located in China’s Jilin province and then spread to Shenyang. At present, more than 7,500 people have been isolated and under observation in Shenyang and have been receiving the nucleic acid test. The reopening of schools has been postponed again. Some Twitter users revealed that the 14-day quarantine fee in Shenyang—including food, lodging, and testing—is 8,286 yuan ($1,167), which is higher than the cost in Shanghai. They said that the hospital runs like a black market by profiting from the pandemic. Shenyang resident Mr. Li disclosed that because many people were infected at the hospital, it was closed the day before, but local authorities are covering up the situation. Mr. Li said, "The hospital is completely locked down. People are not allowed to enter or exit the hospital at all. Cars parked inside the hospital are not allowed to leave. Too many people are quarantined. The quarantine costs come out of their own pockets. Officials are saying the situation is not serious, but several places look quite scary. It makes people very nervous because the information is not transparent at all. The government doesn’t report the actual situation." On April 24, there were CCP virus infection cases reported from the People's Hospital of Liaoning Province in Shenyang. A doctor was found to be an asymptomatic carrier, so the entire hospital was closed while 3,000 people were being tested. Mr. Li also criticized the authorities for profiting from the disaster. He said: "This fee has not been able to go down. The cost has more than doubled compared to last year, but workers’ salaries have not increased. Going to work is a problem now. The Chinese people suffer the most. The more disasters, the more the people suffer. All kinds of tests are paid out of our own pockets. The nucleic acid test itself costs over 200 yuan. This test, that test, then they finally give you a nucleic acid test, which in total easily costs you more than a thousand yuan." Mr. Jin, a rural resident in Shenyang, said that due to the pandemic, various industries are in depression. Many people were laid off. He used to work in a logistics company in Shenyang. This year, the company’s business was very poor, so he was laid off. He said, "I am no longer in Shenyang. I have no work and no life. I returned to my hometown over a month ago." Shenyang residents said that the latest CCP virus outbreak has caused people to panic. The communities without any infection cases are not locked down, but people are afraid of going out. Ms. Ren, a local, said: "There are very few people going out. I rarely go out since the pandemic. I have to be careful." On May 13, some netizens took photos from the largest wholesale market in northeast China, Shenyang Wuai Clothing Market. The photos show that people have to scan their health barcode and body temperature to enter the market. Some shops remain closed. The whole market was almost entirely empty.
