This plane has no moving parts and doesn't need an engine to fly

An engineering team from MIT has produced an airplane that flies with no moving parts.
The plane has no conventional engine—it burns no fossil fuels and produces no pollution.
The plane is propelled by “ionic wind,” created by the electrical current in wires under the wings.
The 5-pound plane carries rechargeable batteries that send 40,000 volts through the wings’ wires.
The current ionizes air that flows under the wings, creating enough thrust to generate lift.
The engineers envision fuel-saving hybrid planes with both conventional and ion drives.
