Canada Goose to boost in-house production

Henry Jom
Canada goose only manufactures only 1/3rd of its outerwear. But the luxury coat maker plans to bring more manufacturing in house. They’re justifying the increased cost because it will increase quality and supply. Its first store opened in 2016. Canada Goose now has six factories. Mary Epner, CEO, Mary Epner Retail Analysis “Demand has outpaced their supply, which is a high-quality problem to have.” Shoppers at Canada Goose's store in New York City were aware of the short supplies. Helen Huang, New Yorker from Shanghai “In China, Shanghai, it's very expensive and even you have money, you cannot buy that. It's out of stock.” Parkas sell for between $725 and $1,695. The company's stock is up nearly 90% since it listed a year ago outperforming the Toronto stock benchmark. Canada Goose plans to have as many as 20 of its own stores by the end of 2020.
