Chinese Students Stranded in Italy Due to CCP Virus Testing Rules

The Epoch Times
The Epoch Times
Chinese international students in Europe have recently been informed by Beijing that those who take a charter flight back to China must take a nucleic acid test within 120 hours before departure. The new rule, which went into effect on June 23, makes it difficult for students to return home. Mr. Zhang is a Chinese citizen who studied in Italy. He decided to stay in the country when he was offered a job after graduation. "The Chinese government's policy is too rigid," he told The Epoch Times on Jun. 26. "It doesn't treat us as human beings at all. To be honest, our right as a Chinese citizen has been violated. Moreover, it’s being violated over and over again. That in itself is unconstitutional." The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) provides one charter flight from Italy to Wenzhou city, and only international students can apply for it. The charter flight takes off once a week, every Wednesday afternoon. Due to the regulation of getting a nucleic acid test done within 120 hours, it is impossible for international students to do it the previous Friday, and the local hospital is closed on weekends. "But if we do it on Monday, it will take two days to get the result, so the time is very tight," said Mr. Zhang.
