UK Government Announces U-turn Over Schools Bill

The government has removed large chunks of its Schools Bill following concerns in the House of Lords that the bill would undermine the autonomy of academies. Headteachers called the bill a power grab by c, as it would have given councils deciding control over things such as the spiritual development of children and student absences.
