Chancellor Rishi Sunak has cut fuel duty and other taxes in what he calls the biggest tax cut in a quarter of a century. But Labour accuse him of not doing enough to help people struggling with the cost of living crisis. Wednesday marked the second anniversary of the first national COVID-19 lockdown. Following a minute’s silence earlier, people were encouraged to shine a light at eight o'clock in the evening. The prime minister says P&O Ferries' sacking of 800 workers last week appears to have broken the law, and that the company could face millions in fines.  The mayor of Kyiv says over 260 civilians have been killed in his city since the war began, and Ukrainian forces have taken back more territory from Russia.
