Wood Turning - Shou Sugi Ban Bowls

Welcome Back, I have been wanting to incorporate some colour into my turnings for a little while, but as there are a lot of choices i have been holding off…. Until now. Whilst I was in my local Axminster I spotted a concentrated dye by Liberon, thinking that as its not premade you could play around with different colours and mix your own colour pallet. After the “Aladins Eye Finial” from last week i wanted to expand on my experience. So with that in mind i decided to make a bowl and colour the inside, for my first bowl i used the remains of the blue dye that I had left. To say it turned out well was an understatement. This then gave me the idea, to create a set of bowls - using primary colors and embellish the outside using the ancient Japanese technique of preserving wood shou sugi ban. I think I got carried away and was having too much fun as my camera work on this one is not my best. But I hope you enjoy and learn something new.
