It is related to the construction of a high-speed railway that connects two Islamic holy places - Mecca and Medina, and it is better known as the Haramain high-speed railway. What is interesting about this project are the extremely difficult climatic and geographical conditions in which the line was built - deserts, open valleys, desert winds, and high temperatures, all dictated a need for different technical solutions on the same railway line. As usual, we covered the background of the project which was basicaly handling the transportation needs of a growing number of seasonal pilgrims to Mecca, Hajj and Umrah performers, then the scope and execution of works, including among other, details about six very diverse design areas, high standards of safety and incident management system, amazing passenger stations of Mecca, Jeddah Central, Jeddah KAIA, Rabigh-KAEC and Medina and suppliers from across the world such as ADIF, Renfe, Talgo, Siemens, Al Shoula Group, DB), and last but not least, the inauguration and operation of the line. If you want to know all about the Haramain high-speed rail project, check out our video!
