Restoring a Vintage Elm Dresser | Furniture Makeover

Modern Makeovers
In this makeover, I reveal the hidden beauty of an unwanted vintage elm dresser. I picked up this piece for FREE off of Facebook Marketplace; the owner was moving out and had no use for an old worn-out dresser. But to me, it was not just an old worn-out dresser. It was a gem made of solid wood -- a gem that would fuel my spirit for the next few days. First, I patched up any dents and deep scratches with Bondo. Once the Bondo was dry, I gave the whole thing a good scuffing -- except for the rails and drawers; those got an intensive sanding, since they were going to be stained. The drawers were given a darker stain than the rails to create a contrast effect on the face of the dresser. Then, the body was painted in "vintage black", which is what I call my mix of Black and Charcoal paints by Benjamin Moore (which is the same color that I used for my previous "vintage waterfall dresser" makeover).
