Wilson (D-Fla.) and Jamaal Bowman (D-N.Y.), joined by Randi Weingarten from the American Federation of Teachers, Becky Pringle from the National Education Association, and Ellen Sherratt from the Teacher Salary Project, announce the reintroduction of the American Teacher Act at 1:00 p.m. ET on Feb. 8. The American Teacher Act intends to solve the teacher shortage issue by raising the minimum teacher salary to $60,000 nationwide via incentive grants that support state efforts to increase teacher salaries.
