House Oversight Committee chairman James Comer has invited President Biden to testify publicly as part of the GOP's impeachment inquiry. Comer says Americans need to hear from the president himself. He says that way, President Biden can explain why his family received tens of millions of dollars from foreign companies with his assistance. The Committee says it found no legitimate services to merit such payments. In response, House Democrats called the probe "comically distorted and twisted, and suggested the inquiry be put to rest. On Thursday, the U.S. government awarded the state of Maryland an initial $60 million in emergency funds to clear debris and begin rebuilding the collapsed Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore. Rebuilding will likely cost hundreds of millions of dollars, but President Biden vows the federal government will pay it all. Experts say insurance companies will be on the hook for over a billion dollars and years of litigation. Former President Donald Trump's lawyers were back in Georgia yesterday, arguing in a pre-trial motion in the election case. Trump’s team cited the First Amendment in an effort to dismiss the charges as prosecutors push to move the case to trial before the November election. Topics in this episode include: 1.
